What is the environmental impact of the system on my venue?

The GPS Ranger tour guide system is completely paperless and offers an interpretive visitor service that will have a positive effect on the environment of your venue. No more paper brochures to communicate interpretive messages to visitors means less waste in landfills and less waste detracting from your venue. Tour stops are triggered through GPS automatically, so there is no need for signage, making the tour a completely unobtrusive addition to your resource.

What is GPS?

The Worldwide Global Positioning System (GPS) was originally designed for military purposes. It is currently used by thousands of civilians in a variety of applications. The system consists of 24 satellites that continuously orbit the earth. Between five and eight satellites are in range of an individual user from almost any location on earth. A GPS receiver can convert the coded satellite signals transmitted by the system and compute an exact location for the user. The location is identified by its longitude, latitude, and altitude.

A GPS receiver – like the GPS Ranger Series -- can help users find their way on a map, find out what restaurants or attractions are near them. And now with the Ranger Series, GPS can deliver compelling stories at any point of interest in the world!
